Sicché launches Anonymous Access: when ensuring privacy is essential in the research process

Accesso anonimo ricerche qualitative piattaforma Sicché

In some areas and for some types of research project, guaranteeing the confidentiality of respondents is crucial to ensure their participation and authentic contribution. For this reason, Sicché introduces a new feature that meets this need and allows completely anonymous access to the research project.

With this function active, no real data can be shared during registration by respondents: the system will automatically and totally randomly assign a user name and profile photo. In this way, the sensitive data of respondents will be completely protected and it will not be possible to trace the identity of participants in any way.

Why anonymous access to the qualitative projects? 🦹‍♀️

This need arises in particular for projects in sensitive areas, such as the pharmaceutical sector, or for research that explores sensitive topics such as political, sexual or religious opinions where the protection of privacy is crucial. Total anonymity allows users to participate without having to enter any personal data, creating a safer environment free from conditioning.

Talking about personal experiences with strangers can make one feel vulnerable or judged. Anonymous access creates a safe environment where respondents can express themselves freely without fear, thus ensuring authentic and quality data.

How does anonymous or blind access work on Sicché? 🔐

For project research requiring this level of confidentiality, the anonymous on-boarding process will ensure that, during registration, the respondent cannot provide any recognizable or traceable personal data such as pictures/photos or their real name. Nothing will emerge unless the user decides to reveal something about him/herself during the discussion.

Avatars and user names: anonymous but with style 😉

You know, at Sicché we care about form as well as substance! We care that the platform is not only easy to use, functional and efficient from a technical point of view, but we also care that it is visually pleasing! It is important to us that the user experience (both for the user and the researcher) is rewarding in all respects!

We have therefore also taken care in the choice of templates that generate the graphics of the profile image and the generation of the user name.

To ensure a balance between anonymity and usability, the system generates neutral names and avatars with a touch of personality:

  • Generic credentials: no reference to gender or other sensitive data; names and profile pictures have no implicit value connotations
  • Distinctive avatars: the system generates neutral but visually recognizable avatars. This allows the researcher to better navigate the discussion and identify participants without compromising their privacy.
  • Up to 500 different usernames: to avoid repetition and ensure diversity, the system can generate up to 500 unique usernames in each search

Creative templates for all need 😎

Keeping involvement high is also important! And we have thought about that too!

To make the experience more engaging, the researcher, during set-up, can choose from different templates that generate user names and avatars/profile images that are inspired by different worlds/themes:

  • Geometries: a sophisticated mix of shapes and colours with names inspired by this visual world
  • Shades of colour: elegant and professional
  • Retro Games: perfect for young targets or technology research

Security and traceability for researchers 🔑

Of course, anonymity does not mean loss of control over the data. The system allows only researchers to cross-reference anonymous data with the real identities of users, thus guaranteeing the integrity of research and results.

Availability and activation 💡

Since this is an advanced feature, blind access for respondents is not present by default but can only be activated on request. Activation is intuitive and self-explanatory but the Sicché team is, as always, available to guide you through the implementation and customize the experience to your specific research needs.

With the introduction of Fully Anonymous Access, Sicché confirms its commitment to innovation in qualitative research methodologies, always putting people and the quality of the data collected at the centre.
